O&M services
Commissioning is the beginning of the asset’s life, not the end of the project. Availability is what pays for it.
Operations · In short
O&M services keep a commissioned asset available and efficient for the rest of its life. Enersys Engineers provides complete operation and maintenance contracts and post-commissioning annual maintenance contracts covering all types of electrical work — preventive and breakdown maintenance, protection testing and relay re-coordination, switchgear and panel servicing, transformer condition monitoring, solar plant O&M, spares management, and operator training.
Contract models
Electrical maintenance scope
- Preventive maintenance to a schedule built from the equipment manuals and the plant’s duty
- Breakdown attendance and fault diagnosis
- Switchgear servicing — contact resistance, timing, mechanism and interlock checks
- Protection relay testing by secondary injection, and re-coordination after network changes
- Transformer condition monitoring — oil testing, dissolved gas analysis, tan delta, winding resistance
- Cable testing and termination inspection, including thermographic survey
- Earthing system resistance measurement and continuity verification
- Battery and DC system capacity testing
- Panel servicing, tightening and cleaning, with thermography on busbars and joints
- Statutory compliance support and inspectorate re-certification
Solar plant O&M
- Module cleaning to a schedule matched to the site’s soiling rate
- String-level current testing and underperformance identification
- Inverter servicing, filter replacement and firmware management
- Combiner box, cable and connector inspection — the most common source of DC arc faults
- Structure and tracker inspection, torque and alignment checks
- Vegetation and shading management
- Generation reporting against the P50 model, with loss attribution
- Availability and performance ratio reporting
Auxiliary and balance-of-plant systems
On a thermal plant, availability is usually lost in the auxiliaries rather than the main machine.
- Ash handling plant operation and maintenance
- Coal and fuel handling plant electrics
- Water treatment, DM plant and cooling water system electrics
- Compressed air, fire fighting and chemical dosing system supplies
- Drive and VVFD maintenance across the plant
What we manage against
- Availability — the proportion of time the asset is capable of operating
- Plant load factor improvement, particularly where ash or fuel handling is the constraint
- Defect notification and close-out tracking, with a documented register
- Spares holding, criticality classification and reorder levels
- Statutory compliance and inspection currency
- Training and capability transfer to the owner’s personnel
Frequently asked
Do you provide O&M for plants you did not build?
Yes. Taking over an existing asset begins with a condition survey and a review of the protection settings and maintenance history, because both are usually where the accumulated risk sits.
What is the difference between AMC and a complete O&M contract?
An AMC covers scheduled maintenance and call-out attendance while the owner continues to operate the plant. A complete O&M contract transfers operating responsibility to Enersys, with availability and performance obligations defined in the contract.
Does AMC include spares?
Under a comprehensive AMC, yes — spares and consumables are included, which gives the owner a fixed annual cost. A standard AMC covers labour and scheduled activity, with spares billed as used.
How is solar plant underperformance identified?
By comparing measured generation against the P50 model, then attributing the shortfall — soiling, shading, string failure, inverter derating, grid curtailment or availability. Reporting the gap without attributing it does not help anyone fix it.
