PCC — Power Control Centre panels
The board everything else hangs off. Its short-circuit withstand is the number that matters, not its rated current.
Manufacturing · In short
A Power Control Centre (PCC) is the main low-voltage distribution board of an installation. It receives the transformer incomer, carries the main busbar, and distributes to outgoing feeders and downstream boards. Enersys Engineers manufactures PCC panels in-house at Bhubaneswar, rated from the fault level study its own engineers produce, with the form of separation, ingress protection and busbar withstand specified for the installation rather than to a catalogue default.
Typical configuration
- Incoming air circuit breaker from the power transformer, with protection release and metering
- Main horizontal busbar sized for continuous current and for short-circuit withstand
- Bus coupler where a two-incomer arrangement with interlocking is required
- Outgoing ACB and MCCB feeders to distribution boards, MCCs and large drives
- Capacitor feeder to the APFC panel
- Multifunction metering, energy metering and annunciation
- Auto-changeover scheme where an emergency source is present
How we specify it
Testing before dispatch
- Visual and dimensional inspection against approved general arrangement drawings
- Busbar torque check and continuity verification
- Insulation resistance and high-voltage withstand test
- Primary and secondary injection of protection devices
- Functional and interlock checks, including changeover and interlocking logic
- Wiring verification against the approved schematic
Frequently asked
What is the difference between a PCC and a PMCC?
A PCC distributes power — incomer, busbar and outgoing feeders. A PMCC combines that power distribution with motor starter modules in the same lineup, so plant drives are fed and controlled from one board. PMCC is used where the drive population justifies it.
Why does the short-circuit rating matter more than the current rating?
A board spends its life carrying rated current, but it only has to survive a through-fault once. Under-rating the busbar structure or its supports means the board is mechanically destroyed by a fault it was supposed to contain.
Can you build to our existing single-line diagram?
Yes. Where a fault study is not available we will run one, because the busbar and switchgear ratings cannot be responsibly selected without it.

PMCC — Power & Motor Control Centre panels
One lineup that both feeds and controls the plant. Draw-out construction is what lets you change a starter without shutting the section down.
