Transmission line EPC
Six trades in sequence, each dependent on the one before it. This is the work behind the kilometre figure.
EPC · In short
Transmission line EPC is the turnkey delivery of an overhead line: supply of towers, hardware, insulators and earth-wire, and construction covering survey, soil investigation, foundations, tower erection, conductor stringing and testing. Enersys Engineers has built over 250 km of transmission line for utilities in India, is qualified to execute 400 kV lines and is ready for 765 kV, and designed and commissioned Odisha’s first 132 kV double-circuit monopole line.
Supply scope
- Transmission line towers, including bolts, nuts and tower accessories
- Line hardware and fittings
- Insulator strings — suspension and tension
- Earth-wire and OPGW where specified
- Conductor, where included in the contract scope
Construction scope
- Walk-over and detailed survey, tower spotting and profiling
- Detailed soil investigation at each tower location
- Civil construction of foundations — pad and chimney, under-reamed pile or raft to suit the soil report
- Stub setting to tolerance; a misaligned stub cannot be corrected once the tower is up
- Tower erection and fitting of hardware and insulator strings
- Conductor stringing and tensioning to the sag–tension chart for the span, ambient temperature and loading condition
- Jointing, clamping and jumper work
- Testing, checking of statutory ground clearance, and charging
Tower type selection
Suspension, tension, angle and dead-end towers are selected against the deviation angle and span at each location. Lattice towers suit open corridors and are the cheaper structure; monopoles suit constrained right-of-way, which is why they matter in built-up parts of Odisha.
Enersys is one of very few EPC contractors in the region to have executed monopole EHV projects, including AIS.

Frequently asked
What is the highest voltage transmission line Enersys can build?
Enersys offers turnkey transmission line solutions up to 400 kV and is ready for 765 kV projects, with detailed design and engineering carried out in-house.
Why is soil investigation done at every tower location?
Foundation type and depth are governed by the soil at that specific point. Designing to a single assumed soil profile across a route either over-builds most foundations or leaves some unsafe — both of which cost more than the investigation.
What is a monopole line and when is it used?
A monopole uses a single tubular steel pole instead of a four-legged lattice tower. It occupies a far smaller footprint, which makes it the practical choice where right-of-way is constrained — through built-up areas, along roads and in industrial corridors. Enersys executed the first 132 kV D/C monopole line in Odisha.
Does the scope include right-of-way and statutory clearance?
Statutory liaisoning, including inspectorate approval and utility coordination, is handled as part of our scope. Land and right-of-way acquisition is normally the owner’s responsibility, with Enersys providing the survey and technical support the process requires.

EHV substation EPC
A substation is a sequence of devices that must coordinate exactly. Get the ratings or the grading wrong and one fault takes the whole station out.
