A solar power plant going up, in the order it was built — foundations through to transformer placement.

Quick answer

These are site photographs from a solar power plant executed by Enersys Engineers, arranged in construction sequence. Pile foundations and pedestal casting, module mounting structure erection, module installation and DC string cabling, inverter and AC combiner mounting, cable trenching and conduit laying, and the delivery, lifting and placement of the power transformers.

01

Foundations & piling

  • Workers aligning a reinforcement cage against driven piles on a solar plant foundation grid

Reinforcement cage set against the pile line before pedestal casting.

  • Site team setting out pile alignment with a reinforcement cage at a solar power plant

Pile alignment checked row by row — the geometry every table above it inherits.

  • Transit mixer placing concrete at solar module mounting structure pile pedestals

Pedestal concreting across the array field.

  • Rows of cast concrete pedestals and galvanised piles across a solar plant site

Pedestals cast and cured ahead of structure erection.

  • Workers casting a pile pedestal with a mobile crane on a solar power plant site

Casting in progress, with the array grid already set out to the horizon.

02

Module mounting structure

  • Solar module mounting structure being erected at sunrise across a prepared pile field

Module mounting structure going up at first light.

  • Completed solar module rows with cable conduit coils staged along the access track

Rows closed out, with DWC conduit staged for the cable route.

03

Modules & DC cabling

  • Technician on a ladder connecting DC string cables beneath installed solar modules

String cabling dressed and connected beneath the tables.

  • Worker in a hard hat landing DC string connectors under a solar module table

Every string landed and labelled before the combiner is energised.

  • Workers laying orange DWC conduit in an excavated cable trench beside a solar array

Conduit laid into the trench alongside the array.

04

Inverters & AC equipment

  • String inverter mounted on a galvanised pedestal frame at a solar power plant

String inverter set on its pedestal, DC side made off.

  • AC combiner box on a pedestal with heat-shrink terminated cable at a solar plant

AC combiner box with the outgoing cable terminated and sealed.

  • Heat-shrink cable terminations landed on busbar inside an outdoor inverter station enclosure

Terminations landed on the busbar — crimped, shrouded and torqued.

  • Electrician terminating colour-coded LT power cables onto panel busbars

LT terminations inside the panel, phase-identified throughout.

05

Civil works & cable routes

  • Wrapped switchgear panel standing on a finished concrete plinth at a solar plant

Switchgear landed on its plinth, still wrapped against site dust.

  • Equipment plinth and foundation works under construction at a solar power plant

Plinth works ahead of equipment placement.

  • Foundation excavation and civil works in progress at a solar power plant site

Foundation excavation for the equipment yard.

  • Site supervisor in hard hat and high-visibility vest inspecting an excavated cable trench

Trench inspected for depth and line before any cable is pulled.

  • Excavated cable trench running between solar array rows

Cable route cut between the array blocks.

  • Cable trench excavation alongside a solar power plant array

Trenching alongside the array, clear of the table foundations.

  • Earthworks with aggregate stockpile and a worker on a solar power plant site

Aggregate stockpiled for backfill and earth pits.

  • Open cable trench with excavated spoil beside a solar module array

Spoil kept clear of the route so backfill goes back clean.

  • Worker carrying material beside a deep excavated cable trench at a solar plant

Material run to the trench face by hand where plant cannot reach.

  • Cable trench excavation with solar array rows visible in the background

The route back to the inverter station, opened and squared.

06

Transformer installation

  • Power transformer with marshalling box standing beside a low-bed trailer on site

Transformer received on site and checked before lifting.

  • Crane rigging attached to a power transformer during unloading at a solar plant

Rigged from the designated lifting lugs, nothing improvised.

  • Power transformer being handled by mobile crane at a solar power plant site

Controlled lift, with the slew path walked beforehand.

  • Power transformer lifted clear of a low-bed trailer by a mobile crane

    Off the trailer and clear.

  • Mobile crane lifting a power transformer from a trailer with a second transformer behind

Second unit waiting its turn on the hardstanding.

  • Power transformer being lowered onto its concrete plinth at a solar power plant

Transformer set down onto its plinth, site team standing clear.

  • Power transformer positioned on its foundation at a solar power plant

Positioned and levelled, ready for terminations.

Questions

About this gallery

What does this gallery show?

Work in progress on a solar power plant built by Enersys Engineers, photographed through the construction sequence: pile foundations and pedestal casting, module mounting structure erection, module installation and DC string cabling, inverter and AC combiner mounting, cable trenching and conduit laying, and the delivery, lifting and placement of the power transformers.

Are these Enersys Engineers’ own projects?

Yes. These are site photographs from work executed by Enersys Engineers, not stock photography. Client names and plant capacities are withheld here; a full credential list with references is available on request for prequalification.

Can I see photographs of substation or transmission line work?

More site photography is being added as it is collected. In the meantime the project atlas records twelve milestone projects from 2006 to 2024 across transmission lines, EHV substations, solar and thermal power, including Odisha’s first monopole 132 kV transmission line.
